Fighting for pharmacists. Protecting patients.
🗳️ Current Legislative Priority: SB 147 / HB 195
Pharmacist Limited Prescriptive Authority & Patient Care Services
Alaska’s healthcare system faces critical access challenges. Pharmacists are trusted, highly trained healthcare providers who are ready to help. Senate Bill 147 & HB 195 modernize Alaska’s laws to allow pharmacists to provide patient care services within the bounds of their education, training, and experience — such as treating minor conditions and helping manage chronic illnesses — under a standard of care model, just like other healthcare professionals.
SB 147 / HB 195 will:
- Expand patient access to timely care, especially in rural and underserved communities
- Allow pharmacists to practice to the full extent of their education, training, and clinical ability
- Strengthen team-based care and support physicians, nurses, and other providers
- Improve healthcare outcomes and reduce strain on emergency rooms and clinics
