Brandy Seignemartin Joins the Alaska Pharmacists Association (AKPhA) and Faculty at the University of Alaska Anchorage/Idaho State University Doctor of Pharmacy Program located in Anchorage, Alaska.
The Alaska Pharmacists Association (AKPhA), a non-profit professional organization representing all pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and students in Alaska, announced today Brandy Seignemartin, PharmD as the new AKPhA Executive Director. As part of this role, Dr. Seignemartin will serve as faculty at the University of Alaska Anchorage / Idaho State University Doctor of Pharmacy Program. This newly created joint position will support the organization’s advocacy and education initiatives, working diligently to increase awareness, recognition, and support relevant healthcare system change by Alaska’s legislators, lobbyists, and policymakers.
“There are so many passionate volunteers in AKPhA who dedicate their time, energy, and talents to promote and support the growth of pharmacy. I see my role as providing the required support, coordination and structure to ensure their continued success,” notes Seignemartin.
“Seignemartin is energetic, knowledgeable, and well-connected, with a broad understanding of the legislative process and advocacy required to support change,” said Renee Robinson, President-Elect of AKPhA.
Seignemartin holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Washington State University. She has practical and leadership experience in healthcare policy and independent community pharmacy experience. Seignemartin comes to AKPhA from Washington State Pharmacy Association (WSPA) where she was an Executive Fellow and the Director of Policy in Practice. At WSPA she engaged membership and built relationships pivotal to policy change and advancing the practice of pharmacy in the state of Washington. In her work with the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA), Seignemartin created key policy resources for the state pharmacy associations, used by AKPhA in a number of legislative initiatives.
