The Mission of the Alaska Pharmacists Association is to preserve, promote and lead the profession of pharmacy in Alaska.

The Alaska Pharmacists Association (AKPhA) is committed to giving Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians an opportunity to voice their issues and concerns regarding pharmacy practice in Alaska.

Whether you are from Southeast, Southcentral or the Interior, members of the Board comprise each region to ensure equal representation.

AKPhA was founded in 1956 when the state was still a territory. Although the American Pharmaceutical Association recognized the association in 1957, it fell dormant for a number of years and reemerged in 1966. Since that time, AKPhA has held annual conventions in Anchorage traditionally around the Fur Rendezvous celebration.

Applications now available for SHARP I--2014

Deadline December 5, 2014

Alaska’s SHARP Program provides support-for-service to healthcare practitioners.  Special focus is on those practitioners who work with underserved populations.
  • DHSS expects to honor at least 40 clinician-candidates during Fall 2014. 
  • All selected practitioners will provide direct primary care.
  • Candidates will be selected in medical, dental & behavioral health occupations (anticipate four pharmacist slots)

This program is made possible by receipt of a 3rd successful HRSA-SLRP grant.

  • Major funding is provided by HRSA and the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority.
  • In addition, DHSS is contributing and there is a required 25% employer match.

Alaska Medicaid and NADAC Price Review Process

 Alaska Medicaid implemented the new pricing on July 1st and changed dispensing fees on May 18th.   The Alaska Pharmacists Association would like to inform pharmacies and pharmacists of an appeals process for Alaska Medicaid’s new NADAC pricing and to encourage all pharmacies to review their reimbursements.   The form is called  Alaska Medicaid NADAC Price Review Request Form and it can be found at  http://manuals.medicaidalaska.com/docs/dnld/AKRx_MAC_Price_Review_Request_Form_06.2016.pdf 
If after subtracting the pharmacy’s dispensing fee, the pharmacy is being paid less than cost please fill out the appeal form and fax it to 1.855.457.5264 or email info@mslcrps.com.   It is critical that Alaska Medicaid hear from as many pharmacies as possible from across the state.  Please also send the information to AKPhA akphrmcy@alaska.net subject: Medicaid NADAC Appeals.
